We believe opportunity fosters personal growth and learning - and that the right supports at the right time ensure optimal outcomes for students.

Student success requires so much more than paid school fees

  • Critical to breaking cycles that further impoverish both mind and soul, Kenya Keys mentors young people thru programs that educate and prepare them to bring change about in their circumstances.

  • A variety of programs help students afford transportation, food, feminine hygiene kits, and other necessities so they can focus on learning, rather than on surviving.

  • Generous donors provide funds to support students in their basic needs - beyond the classroom - so that students can focus academically.

Empowering Girls

Designed and implemented by local Kenyan women who are recent college graduates sponsored by Kenya Keys, the Hope Springs program:

  • empowers girls to speak up and find help in abusive situations.

  • provides incentives to stay in school and avoid early marriages.

  • offers training to help girls become entrepreneurial, leading to self-reliance.

Seeing how poverty and lack of education fuel desperation that is simply beyond our imagination, Kenya Keys supports several programs to help the girls. Save Our Sisters focuses on issues of violence, rape, and pregnancy, educating parents and young girls alike.

Annually, a Girls Conference convenes with girls from many villages who come to be inspired and build self-awareness through drama, speeches, and information sessions. Leaders and government officials, together with Kenya Keys graduates come long distances to support these girls, serve as role models, and join in their celebrations on the International Day of the Girl.

Thank you for the tireless support you have given me. My grades are taking me to the university.

Empowering Boys

It all began with a desire to help the neediest boys in their school.

It grew into a garden where they could grow, then sell vegetables.

With the proceeds, these young men help their brothers purchase necessities - like soap - and travel home during school breaks. Save Our Brothers program… started by boys… focused on boys.

In a plea for assistance, middle-grade boys asked for help from the Hope Springs mentors. Read how this changed the hearts and minds of Kenya Keys staff: Hope for Boys. Most notably, these boys talk about the many traumatic circumstances they face and their need to rise to something better.
